Port Hydrographer - Permanent - Dover, UK - £40,000
One of the UK's leading ports is recruiting for a Port Hydrographer to join the team in Dover
The key responsibilities will include (but not exhaustive to);
* Conduct hydrographic surveys
* Manage dredging contracts
* Oversee maintenance of aids to navigation
* Handle the port's disposal license and capital applications
* Ensure navigational safety and regulatory compliance
* Maintain efficient port operations
* Serve as the primary contact with the Marine Management Organisation (MMO) and other regulatory bodies
The successful candidate should possess a degree in geography, hydrogeology, geophysics, or a related field. it would be advantageous to have a licence for an accredited hydrographic qualification to IHO Cat A standard, but this is not essential.
You must have at least one year of practical experience in hydrographic surveying, including inshore survey techniques, using multi-beam survey systems and processing the associated data.
Proficiency with current computer systems, RTK, GPS, Autocad systems, sound navigation systems, and SONARs.
Candidates should also have knowledge of Aids to Navigation systems, both fixed and in the water, including maintenance programmes. Experience in the operation of small boats is required, as well as the ...
