Level 3 Teaching Assistant / HLTA
Location: Huyton
Prospero Teaching is working with a SEN School in Huyton that deals with students with additional needs and mental health issues. The pupils are aged from reception upwards to secondary, all with EHCP plans and additional needs. They have usually experienced some form of trauma, neglect, or chaotic home life.
Your role is to build a connection with the young people and act as a mentor and role model for the students, as well as leading classes and organizing tasks throughout the day.
You must have a strong cover supervisor, TA, or tutoring background with students from PRUs or SEMH schools. Due to the barriers the pupils face in the classroom, the role will entail forging strong relationships with them.
The position will see you using lots of mentoring skills (similar to those used in sports, drama, and counseling) to help individuals engage with the school.
The role is open to all experienced candidates who have a strong background in mentoring children and young adults. Depending on performance, the school may consider extending the contract or offering a permanent position.
