Job Introduction
We are seeking a Healthcare Assistant to join our Coventry and Warwickshire Sexual Health Service.
As a healthcare assistant you will help to assist and work alongside our Clinical Staff including Nurses, Doctors, and members of the wider multidisciplinary team. You will also help to assist administration staff and managers to meet the needs of the service and service users.

We have recently been successful in securing a contract to deliver an Integrated Sexual Health Service, including an NHS England commissioned HIV treatment service across Coventry and Warwickshire. The service will commence on 1st April 2024.
This post is based at our Coventry Base but travel across all four of our sites (Coventry, Leamington Spa, Nuneaton and Rugby) may be required. As a result a driving license and access to a car is required.
Main Responsibility
As a healthcare assistant, your responsibilities may include:
1. Support clinicians with their assessment and intervention plans
2. Provide first point of contact to patients assessed as requiring asymptomatic screening management.
3. Undertake necessary tests including phlebotomy, urinalysis and instruction to clients regarding self-testing for STI
4. Follow all policies and protocols, reporting any concerns or issues to relevant staff.
5. Assist with the correct collection and recording of specimens
6. Offer advice and education to patients regarding safe sex practices and offer information regarding further help and advice
7. Perform condom demonstration
8. Perform pregnancy testing following instruction from Clinical staff
9. Assist Clinical staff as necessary including recording of blood pressure, height, weight, and BMI.
10. Undertake chaperone training and be able to offer proactive chaperone skills with positive outcome for clients and staff
11. Assist clinical staff with procedures e.g. implant, IUCD fittings as necessary, including organisation of equipment both pre and post procedure
12. Ensure all client groups accessing the integrated sexual health service receive a safe, friendly, non-judgmental and confidential service.
