Senior EMC Engineer
Job Role Overview:
The EMC Engineer/Senior Engineer role within the Electrical/Electronic Systems team is responsible for ensuring EMC compliance of our electronic systems. This involves close collaboration with Component Engineers, T&D (Test & Development), MBSE team, Vehicle project teams, Suppliers, and Quality department to meet global EMC compliance requirements for all business products.
Senior Engineers are expected to have extensive experience, mentoring abilities, chairing work product reviews meetings, peer reviewing, and signing off work products, as well as deputizing for Lead Engineers when required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Technical lead for EMC Compliance.
* Develop and manage EMC specifications and documentation.
* Leading efforts to ensure components conform to applicable standards and requirements.
* Manage component EMC database in conjunction with Component Engineers.
* Collaborate with suppliers to develop and manage EMC test plans that meet stage gate deliverables.
* Support reviews where necessary.
* Establish and follow best practices working procedures to support EMC activities.
* Create EMC Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for component EMC compliance status and publish regularly to EES leadership team.
* Promote EMC awareness across the Business and support training for new starters where necessary.
Tasks:
1. Chair an internal EMC working group with key stakeholders to maintain a robust and applicable EMC approach.
2. Support whole vehicle EMC testing alongside the T&D team when necessary.
Qualifications:
* BEng or MEng in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Physics, or Systems Engineering, with proven relevant experience.
* Working knowledge of global applicable EMC standards (UNECE Reg10, CISPR, ISO, FCC, GB/T).
Experience:
Essential:
* Significant relevant experience in EMC within the automotive industry. Similar roles outside automotive will be considered.
* Experience of vehicle electrical architectures based on CAN-based systems is highly desirable.
* Full product lifecycle experience from concept through to vehicle launch.
* Delivering electrical systems/components experience.
Desirable:
* Managing suppliers experience.
* Experience with EMC toolsets, simulation.
* I.T.-based systems for tracking tasks/actions (JIRA, Excel, Word, Project).
* Design for EMC best practice experience (PCB, Hardware, filters, suppression).
