Mechanical Engineering Technician – Expanding Maintenance Team\nLocation: Near Cardiff\nIndustry: Chemical / COMAH / Paper Mill / Power / Biomass / Steel\n\nAre you a skilled Mechanical Engineering Technician looking to join a growing team in a high-demand industry? Following a successful hire, this is an exciting opportunity to become the third new addition to a busy maintenance team at a site undergoing significant investment to meet increasing production demands.\n\nWhy Join?\n\nWith a fully booked order pipeline for the next three years and multi-million-pound site investments underway, now is the perfect time to become part of this forward-thinking organisation.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nSupport the SHE department to uphold the highest standards of Safety, Health, and Environmental performance in all maintenance activities.\nAssist in recovering from unplanned stoppages and contribute to first-line troubleshooting and problem-solving.\nWork collaboratively across departments to enhance plant reliability and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) through FMEA, RCM studies, and optimising PM/PdM programs to improve Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) and Mean Time to Repair (MTTR).\nSupport the MRO Stores Controller in optimising inventory to meet reliability and plant performance needs.\nWork closely with engineering teams to manage contractor-led maintenance and capital project activities during plant outages.\nMaintain detailed equipment records using the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).\n\nWhat We’re Looking For:\n\nNVQ / Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification.\nPractical experience with maintenance and reliability tools, including FMEA, RCM, condition monitoring, and CMMS.\nHands-on experience working with pumps, compressors, pipelines, boilers, vessels, and heat exchangers.\nKnowledge of alignment techniques, ultrasonics, vibration analysis, and thermography.\nUnderstanding of pressure systems, confined space regulations, risk assessments, and permit-to-work processes (hot work, etc.).\nStrong reporting skills and the ability to assess, improve, and implement maintenance workflow practices.\nIf you thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy tackling new challenges, we’d love to hear from you
