What You'll Do
Reporting to the Lead Branch Supervisor, the Library Clerk provides information services and readers’ advisory to patrons, carries out routine duties at the circulation desk to lend and receive library items, conducts other clerical or maintenance tasks as required, and assists with library programming. The successful candidate will be required to work 34 hours over a two-week period. The incumbent will have the opportunity to accept shifts in surrounding branches to provide relief staffing for vacation and sick time of scheduled employees. Hours may include evenings and weekends.
What We're Looking For
Education & Experience
1. High School (secondary school) diploma
2. One year of previous experience in a related role
3. Experience with office equipment and the use of computers
4. Experience planning, promoting, and running programs
Skills & Abilities
1. Strong customer service background
2. Ability to lift book bins, maneuver book carts and shelve books
3. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
4. Ability to manage time appropriately and meet deadlines
5. Proficient with technology
6. Strong communication skills including written, verbal, and listening skills
7. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
8. Support the Canadian Library Association’s Statement on Intellectual Freedom
9. A recent and clear Police check including vulnerable sector check
10. First Aid Certification required as scheduled
