Job overview
*INTERNAL VACANCY*
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team within the Breast Imaging Office. You will work in an established team providing a wide range of administration duties across the department, with the opportunity to develop new skills and knowledge. The role will entail interacting with patients, the public, and staff at all levels across the trust. Therefore, you will require good communication and customer care skills, have a friendly, pleasant, and helpful approach, whilst understanding the need for confidentiality in a health care environment.
Our Trust values would need to be demonstrated through the individual's approach to working in this environment, with the appropriate attitudes and behaviour to work in a health care setting. You must be flexible to meet the demands of the service, have a can-do attitude and be a good team worker. You will have achieved a minimum of 3 good standard GCSEs, education grades 9-4 (or equivalent) which include Maths and English. It is essential that candidates can demonstrate a capacity to show empathy, have a sensitive approach to difficult situations and understand the need for safe working practice in a hospital environment.
You will be based at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital but at times may be required to work at The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford. Therefore, it is essential that the candidate can commute cross-site.
Main duties of the job
* To support the Breast Imaging Office Manager (BIOM) and Supervisor (BIOS) in carrying out the full range of clerical duties for the screening and symptomatic breast services.
* To maintain the smooth running of the Breast Imaging Office in the absence of the BIOM or BIOS, prioritising workload and delegating tasks.
* To help supervise the work of the Clerical Assistant and assist in her duties, providing cover as necessary.
* The post is principally based at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital but the post-holder may be required to travel to other Trust sites within Shropshire.
* Working under the supervision of the Breast Imaging clerical team, duties are undertaken within the Breast Imaging department by following a daily list of tasks to be performed.
* The nature of the job will require the post-holder to be in regular contact with all members of the breast multi-disciplinary team and other screening units, hospitals, and departments.
Working for your organisation
You will be joining us at an incredibly exciting time as, having recently been awarded more than £300 million government funding, The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is about to undergo a major transformation as part of our sustainable services programme. This will lead to breast imaging and surgery being co-located at one of the two hospital sites in a purpose-built breast services department.
