Sponsored Reserves play a vital role in providing Defence with a mission-critical service, enabling military operations both in the UK and overseas.

Job Description
As a Sponsored Reserve, you will be deployed overseas for 4 months at a time, followed by 16 months in the UK before redeployment.
What you’ll be doing:
* Becoming part of the RAF Firefighter force, responsible for Aerodrome & Rescue Firefighting capabilities for Defence both in the UK and abroad.
* Responding to and fighting fires in the UK and rescuing from military aircraft.
* Providing first response to emergencies on the Defence estate and promoting fire safety awareness among Station personnel.
* Supporting operations and exercises in challenging environments when deployed in the UK and overseas.
* Training to operate highly specialised vehicles and equipment.
* Maintaining and inspecting specialised vehicles and equipment, while honing firefighting skills daily.
What we’re looking for:
* UK or Republic of Ireland citizenship, dual UK/other nationality passport, or being a Commonwealth citizen from birth. Residency in the UK for at least 3-5 years prior to application.
* Minimum GCSE Grade C/4-5 in English and Maths, or equivalent qualifications.
* Current full driving license.
* Physical fitness to complete initial and specialist training, including fitness tests that vary by role, age, and gender.
* Meeting health requirements such as BMI, eyesight, and medical conditions that could disqualify entry.
* Willingness to undertake and pass situational and behavioral assessments, along with background checks.

* Salary starting at £27,650 per annum, rising to £31,106 once fully trained.
