Role Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic and supportive team. The successful candidate will provide specialist support to pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs, enabling them to overcome challenges and achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide high-quality support to pupils with SEMH needs, working collaboratively with the teaching staff to deliver individualised support plans.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with pupils, fostering a sense of trust and respect.
Implement and maintain strategies to promote emotional resilience, social skills, and well-being.
Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, including therapists, psychologists, and educational professionals, to deliver holistic support.
Monitor and record pupil progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and SENCO.
Develop and lead small group or one-to-one interventions to support pupil progress and development.
Assist in implementing Behaviour Management Strategies to promote positive behaviour.
Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment, adhering to school policies and procedures.
Support the SENCO in the management of pupil assessments, reports, and reviews.
Participate in staff meetings, training opportunities, and other professional development activities.
Collaborate with parents and carers to share information and develop support strategies.
Participate in the development and implementation of whole-school initiatives to promote pupil well-being and social skills.
Person Specification:
Relevant qualifications and experience, preferably in a special school setting.
Knowledge and understanding of SEMH needs and strategies to support this.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
Strong organisational and time management skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and work within school policies and procedures.
Willingness to commit to ongoing training and professional development.
Enhanced DBS clearance or willingness to acquire).
