Conveying Design Engineer
ABOUT THE ROLE:
Stolle is the world’s leading supplier of two piece can and end-making machinery for the global can-making industry. Stolle high speed machines can be found in can plants around the world performing the value-added functions of the can-making process. In addition to supplying individual machines, Stolle design, install and support complete can and end lines for beverage and food cans.
Located in Carlisle, UK, Stolle Europe specialise in can line integration, machine and conveying manufacture and the distribution of aftermarket parts and service. The company employs over 120 employees with a turnover exceeding £100m.
We require a design engineer to join our conveyor team, to take approved can line layouts from concept to installation. We have full manufacturing capabilities at our site in Carlisle, so we make what we design from mass production repeatable sections to custom one-off design solutions. We also work with existing can plants to upgrade production lines, so some travelling to existing sites around the world will be possible.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Liaise with both our sales and project design team to identify their requirements.
* Investigate and undertake analysis on how to improve existing product lines.
* Summarise engineering calculations in an easy-to-understand manner.
* Create technical reports to summarise stages, from concepts to final commissioning.
* Cover the concept, specification, tender and development of new product lines.
* Use both 3D and 2D CAD systems to design and visualise product lines.
* Identify new systems and processes to drive quality, efficiency and save costs.
* Communicate effectively with the clients, colleagues and contractors involved in a project.
* Plan effectively to ensure product lines are delivered on time, to standard and to budget.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Essential
* Experienced using SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM
* Experienced using Microsoft Office
* Knowledge of manufacturing processes (laser cutting and folding etc)
* Knowledge of 3D modelling and creating technical drawings to ISO standards
* Proven experience in a relative work environment
* An eye for detail and methodical work processes.
* Effective communication skills, both verbally and written.
* Time management, organisation, and ability to work to deadlines.
* Happy to travel abroad when required (2/3 times a year).
* Minimum of Higher National Certificate (HNC) in engineering
Desirable
* A BA or BSC degree
* Knowledge of Inventor and AutoCAD (both CAD system used)
* Knowledge of MRP systems helpful (training will be offered)
* Willingness to learn new CAD and other IT software when required
