About the role: Lanes Group Ltd are looking for a qualified, experienced Quantity Surveyor in our Commercial department. Your role will be to support Commercial best practice to maximise value and minimise risk and cost for both Lanes Group Ltd and our customers. Accurately value works undertaken and where necessary provide records to substantiate cost, ensure change control process is managed effectively in both Main and Subcontract. Manage client relationships at contract level. Location: Various Depots and Utilities hubs (ideally South of England based) Hours: 37.5 hours ( Monday - Friday) Salary: £55,000 - £60,000 Responsibilities – but not limited to: Review Commercial processes to ensure they stay relevant and make recommendations for necessary changes. Contractual knowledge to communicate with relevant parties ensure understanding the terms of project/contract. Work efficiently and calmly to tight deadlines or other stress factors as they arise. Ensure maximum recovery of all contractual entitlements. Use of performance data to identify opportunities and implement commercial processes to ensure contractual entitlements and opportunities are realised. Support Operational team in daily commercial and contractual aspect. Ensuring proper contractual administration of contract/project assigned, including value and cost control, and maintenance of contemporaneous records. Accurately value works undertaken and where necessary provide records to substantiate cost to allow prompt issue of Application for payment/invoice in line with contractual timescales. Ensure change control process is managed effectively, including production of Early Warnings/Variations, maximizing entitlement. Preparation of financial statements in respect to projects/contracts assigned, working with operational teams to confirm understanding of financial position, proactively instilling commercial awareness throughout the wider business. Support development of individuals within the commercial team. Accepts extra duties as situations arise. Management of Subcontract Accounts. Able to travel and spend occasional nights away. Experience and qualifications required for the role: Minimum of 4 years working in a payroll at payroll officer level Proven experience in payroll processing, payroll systems, and/or payroll project management. Experience managing or leading payroll-related special projects, such as system implementations, process redesigns, or legislative changes. Experience in calculating and operating payrolling benefits for a number of schemes Knowledge of UK payroll legislation (e.g., PAYE, RTI,NMW, statutory payments) and tax CIPP (Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals) qualification or equivalent level 4. Other CIPP online learning certifications are desirable. Known internally as Payroll Special Projects Officer Skills and behaviours: HNC in Quantity Surveying or similar Undergraduate degree in Quantity Surveying or similar advantageous Minimum 5 years’ experience in utilities or civils industry desirable Experience in QS role Good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products, excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel Strong commercial and financial acumen Strong knowledge of contracts Strong desire to maintain client relationships whilst not compromising contractual entitlement Strong communication and interpersonal skills What we offer: 24 Days holiday plus Bank Holidays Company vehicle Pension Death in service Training and progression opportunities This position is open to Internal and External candidates.
