Core purpose of the role: The Quantitative Research Analyst is a critical component of our quantitative research team. The successful candidate will be tasked with researching and developing new risk management and/or return-seeking FX Alpha strategies, as well as maintaining and enhancing existing risk management and/or return-seeking strategies. Quantitative Research Analyst Responsibilities of a quantitative research analyst at Record : Researching and developing new risk management and/or return-seeking strategies, as well as maintaining and enhancing existing risk management and/or return-seeking strategies Performing general data analysis in Python (ad hoc, big data, visualization, exploration, statistical and mathematical programming) Contributing to Record’s Python development infrastructure, including Record’s internal research codebase, as well as live strategy implementation codebases and ensuring that the operational processes underpinning these all operate with minimum friction Extending Record’s machine learning capabilities and operationalising appropriate processes Collaborating with other teams at Record to actualize investment and business goals Building on familiarity with the currency management products and wider investment services that Record offer (as well as the practical investment processes which underpin them and working to develop these- where appropriate) Providing relevant output for institutional client material and presentations The successful candidate will have: A demonstrable track record of researching and developing systematic investment strategies Track record (e.g. 4 years’ experience in an investment institution (e.g. hedge fund, bank or buy side client) producing quantitative research A demonstrable proficiency in Python 3.10, the standard library, as well as numpy, pandas, matplotlib, and scikit-learn An understanding of machine learning processes, and their applications to investment- this could be various algorithms (i.e., logistic regression, neural networks), and understanding of how to implement these in Python Ideally the successful candidate will have an understanding of the FX sector (e.g. market drivers, main instruments: spot, forwards, swaps and options, etc) Proficiency in SQL Server or similar Experience with Azure and Docker is a positive A Masters or PhD in Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Engineering, or similar A sound background knowledge of mathematics and statistics Other required characteristics: Confident in working autonomously, as well as work well in a small team and working with others in the investment teams Clear focus and attention to detail Highly developed critical thinking skills Clear communication skills, both written and verbal.
