McCloskey by OPIS has an opening in its research team for a Principal Research Analyst, Global Steel News and Price Reporting. Reporting into the Research and Analysis Executive Director, you will take a leadership role within McCloskey's growing steel practice, with a focus on Green Steel. You will be a critical part of our Steel and Steel Raw Materials group, and within the McCloskey research team.
This is a senior position within the McCloskey News and Price Reporting team. It will involve managing junior staff. You will also work alongside our industry-leading steel and steel raw materials research team.
You will:
1. Report steel prices weekly, including prices and premiums for Green Steel, with an emphasis on the European market.
2. Launch new steel price assessments, define price specifications, gather market feedback.
3. Generate news content on the steel sector, with a focus on Green Steel. This will form part of our daily and weekly news deliverables for McCloskey's Steel and Steel Raw Materials service.
4. Conduct periodic research pieces on topical industry issues (e.g., regulatory/policy developments, geopolitical issues, investment, project pipeline, ESG).
5. Maintain client and industry relationships – bringing these relationships from prior roles.
6. Share and source market intelligence.
7. Engage in business development, assisting OPIS' account managers in the sales process through maintaining sales pipelines and assisting in the sales process.
8. Be a public face of McCloskey and OPIS in the steel space, via client/stakeholder engagements, industry presentations, media interviews, content marketing.
You have:
1. Demonstrable experience in the steel or steel raw materials industries or markets.
2. Excellent inter-personal skills, demonstrable impact and influence skills.
3. Excellent ability to present and to lead public discussions (e.g., moderating panels at conferences).
4. Quantitative skills advantageous.
5. Exemplary written communication skills.
6. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
7. Ability to work within a team while sometimes operating alone.
8. Ability to manage others while maintaining personal output.
9. Bachelor's degree.
