Shift Engineer - two shift Bampton Road, Romford, Essex, United Kingdom What you will do We are now looking to recruit a Shift Engineer - two shift who will be responsible for maintaining the machinery and equipment within a facility, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime. Their duties include conducting regular inspections, troubleshooting technical issues, performing repairs, and coordinating with other staff to ensure smooth and efficient operations during their shift. Day to day responsibilities Work with Line Management to investigate equipment/plant failures and identify means to prevent a recurrence Be an active team member on continuous improvement projects bringing about improvements in working practices to eliminate waste and reduce variation Liaise with other departments offering specialist involvement when required Ensure that the daily schedule is met by attending breakdowns in a timely manner, and resolving issues effectively Ensure that all activities within the engineering function are undertaken to established standards and in accordance with relevant Standard Operating Procedures and instructions. Ensure that incidents/deviations are brought to the attention of line management Contribute to incident/deviation investigations to allow appropriate root cause analysis to be completed Ensure that all Risk Assessments required for your area are completed and regularly reviewed and actions arising delivered in a timely manner Understand fully the requirements of GMP and their application in your role Accountable for performing job tasks in a safe manner and complying with internal and external EHS requirements, policies, and programmes. Actively support Self-Inspections, action planning and follow-up Skills/experience Educated to C&G level 2 or equivalent in either electrical or mechanical disciplines Electrical and mechanical skills required Experience of maintenance engineering within a GMP environment Experience of planned preventative maintenance Basic machining using lathe and milling machine Welding using MIG, ARC and gas techniques IEE wiring regulations Maintenance engineering within a pharmaceutical industry is desirable Knowledge of Pumps, motors and mechanical drives, electrical drives and basic electric diagnostics Knowledge of Operation of PLC based equipment About you We are seeking a candidate who displays strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, good communication and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will have sound technical knowledge of the industry and equipment, along with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
