Working pattern to be discussed at interview. This position also has the opportunity to facilitate our Distance Learning provision. As a part-time Generalist Tutor, you will be covering tutors’ leave. Mainly in the subjects of maths, English and ICT; we are seeking a creative and inspiring lecturer who is flexible and proactive. This role could entail delivering to small groups of learners in the classroom, or supporting learners one-to-one in the prison workshops, working closely with prison service instructors, to develop learners’ maths and English skills and where possible, to gain accreditation. This position is also about building confidence and skills of learners to be able to apply for employment upon release while delivering an enhanced curriculum through the delivery of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion activities to enrich our learners’ experience. The Education Department delivers relevant short courses that help prepare learners for employment upon release in three different Education areas in the prison. Courses include: English and Maths Functional Skills (Entry 1 to Level 2), ESOL, ICT, Art, Cookery, Employability Skills, and Barbering. We also work closely with our prison colleagues to provide embedded Employability skills in the prison workshops for Carpentry, Recycling, Textiles and Enterprise Services. The Education department runs morning and afternoon lessons, Monday to Thursday, and Friday mornings. Lessons start at 8:15am and 1:45pm respectively and tutors are expected to be in the department at least 15 minutes before the start of the lesson.
