DevOps Engineer Location: Croydon, Surrey (Hybrid: 2 days from home, 3 in the office) Salary: £55,000 - £75,000 (depending on industry experience) Hours: 37.5 hours per week About the Role Are you passionate about DevOps and automation? We are seeking a DevOps Engineer to join our clients amazing team, enabling and optimising DevOps strategies to improve the quality of medical device software through industry-standard practices and tools. Key Responsibilities Design, implement, deploy, and maintain Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD) pipelines for medical device software. Develop and optimise internal automation and quality control strategies, including automated builds, testing, and code quality gates. Create and maintain CI/CD infrastructure with a strong focus on security and maintainability. Design and maintain internal developer tools to automate repetitive tasks and enhance productivity. Manage and optimise internal Application Lifecycle Management tools. Required Skills & Experience Essential: BSc or equivalent qualification in engineering or computing, or a strong professional portfolio. Experience creating custom plugins within the TFS/Azure DevOps plugin ecosystem. Proficiency in high-level scripting languages, particularly JavaScript/TypeScript and Python. Experience developing front-end UIs using modern frameworks. Experience with webhook servers and microservices using backend web frameworks. Familiarity with self-hosting web applications. Experience using both Windows and Linux as development and server operating systems. Strong knowledge of Unix/Windows shell scripting (e.g., Bash, PowerShell). Experience using GitHub, GitLab, or Azure DevOps, including REST API integration. Understanding of verification/validation in regulated environments, including design reviews, code reviews, and system validation. Knowledge of embedded compilers for C/C++. Familiarity with: Software version control using Git Automated software builds Static analysis Unit, integration, and end-to-end testing Desirable: Experience within a Medical Device environment. Knowledge of containerisation technologies (Docker, Kubernetes). Experience with software monorepos. Proficiency in TypeScript. Familiarity with configuration as code (Ansible, Docker Compose). Experience securing applications with SSL. Understanding of OpenEmbedded/Yocto and ARM development environments. Key Competencies Collaborative team player with excellent communication skills. High standard of report writing and ability to interpret technical documentation.
