Position: Electrical Controls Engineer
Location: Nottingham
Salary: Circa £80k DOE + Company Vehicle
Job Description:
Our partner, a prestigious Electrical Engineering Contractor renowned for delivering exceptional service across multiple sectors, is seeking a skilled Electrical Controls Engineer to join their team.
Responsibilities:
1. Meet existing and new customers to seek or develop opportunities and understand customer situations.
2. Understand/define the engineering requirements with the customer and undertake any agreed drawings, design calculations, software, etc.
3. Follow up on your quotations to ensure they have been received and provide the necessary information. Review issued quotes on CRM once per week and update their status.
4. Manage project budgets, oversee purchasing, avert scope creep, attend project meetings, and collate all relevant technical documents including test and commissioning docs, CAD records, and software.
5. Communicate constantly with the customers about progress, variations, and any other customer concerns.
6. Satisfy yourself that the appropriate RAMS have been prepared for any planned work and personally intervene to correct any situation where this is not the case.
7. Liaise regularly with operations management providing progress updates, arranging labour and materials, organizing H&S supervision, and generally agreeing on actions and support needed for project success.
8. Be diligent about management and administration duties, making a timely and informative contribution.
9. Attend the monthly Sales and Engineering meetings.
10. Provide assistance to colleagues when required.
11. Any other duties as may reasonably be required in line with your training and experience.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
1. HNC or HND in Electrical Engineering or an experienced-based equivalent.
2. Successfully completed C&G 2382-18 (BSth Edition) training.
3. Familiarity with cable calculation software (e.g., Trimble, ElectricalOM).
4. Familiarity with electrical CAD (e.g., AutoCAD, Eplan).
5. Practical competence to satisfy the requirements of JIB-approved or technical grade electrician.
6. Ability to set out and instruct work based on drawings, specifications, and other documents.
7. Familiarity with various electrical legislation such as Electricity at Work Regulations, PUWER, etc.
8. Familiarity with relevant British Standards Code of Practice.
