We have a fantastic opportunity for a highly logical and proactive part-qualified accountant to join our award-winning family business as our Trainee Reporting Accountant.
As a Trainee Reporting Accountant, you will have a passion for learning, analysis, detail accuracy, and working to deadlines. An excellent communicator, you will love working as part of our small team and will also work confidently managing your own workload, which will vary from day to day.
Main Responsibilities
The Trainee Reporting Accountant will support the Management Accountant, being involved in the following functions:
* Completion, preparation, and review of the management accounts, to include the month-end working papers, prepayments, accruals, and journey entries.
* Preparing balance sheet reconciliations; resolving all aged and unfamiliar balances in a timely manner.
* Supporting the Management Accountant with regulatory oversight for the company; including implementing and maintaining KPIs for various regulatory bodies (to include; SAO, AEO, CCO, customs duty and freight, Modern Slavery Act, FCA, money laundering, pensions).
* Accurate recording of assets within the Fixed Asset Register, calculation and recording of depreciation, and completion of capital allowances working papers.
* Assisting with ad hoc reporting including PSA, ONS, VAT, and internal reporting to support departments across the company.
* Assisting with weekly cash flow management, reporting, and periodic forecasting.
* Assisting with year-end statutory accounts preparation and audit.
* Involvement in testing and implementation of business and system upgrades and improvements.

The Ideal Candidate
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
* Part-qualified or able to demonstrate relevant experience.
* Management accounting experience.
* Excellent accounting software use with a pro-active attitude to finding system solutions to processing and reporting requirements.
* Advanced Excel skills - VLOOKUPs and pivot tables essential.
* Must be able to build strong working relationships in order to work cohesively and positively with colleagues across the business.
* Strong attention to detail, ability to review own work for accuracy and investigate discrepancies in order to see a task through to completion.
* Ability to maintain privacy of confidential data.
* Demonstrate your ability to prioritise workload and meet objectives, working independently and as part of a team.
DESIRABLE SKILLS
* Experience of Navision software.
