We’re seeking a Director of Engineering to lead and grow our expanding engineering division in our new Bristol office. This is a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of a dynamic, multidisciplinary team working across Civil, Structural, Geotechnical, and Environmental engineering, serving clients in both the infrastructure and energy markets.
About the Role
This senior leadership position is pivotal in establishing a strong regional presence in Bristol and across the Southwest of England & Wales. You’ll take the reins in leading high-impact projects, mentoring a talented team, and driving business development. You’ll act as the face of the engineering division—interfacing directly with clients, developing innovative design solutions, and securing future opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead engineering projects from concept to completion, ensuring high-quality outcomes.
* Manage and mentor multi-disciplinary teams to foster growth and collaboration.
* Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor from day one.
* Develop and secure new business opportunities, helping to expand the regional footprint.
* Guide the team with technical leadership, strategic vision, and project oversight.
* Oversee budgets, timelines, and resources to ensure efficient project delivery.
* Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, contracts, and professional standards.
* Contribute to winning work through engaging proposals and client presentations.
What We’re Looking For
* Chartered Engineer with membership in a relevant professional institution.
* Minimum 10 years’ post-chartered experience in the consultancy sector.
* Proven track record in leading Civil and Structural engineering design projects.
* Strong background in building structures or civil infrastructure design.
* Outstanding communication and leadership skills, with a knack for client engagement.
* Demonstrated success in business development and financial performance.
* Excellent mentoring abilities, with a passion for team development.
* Solid understanding of project management, contracts, and fee structures.
Qualifications
* Degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline.
* Chartered Engineer status (CEng or equivalent).
