As an Operations Engineer, you will be part of a team responsible for the short, mid, and long-term maintenance strategy to ensure asset integrity for the life of the wind farm. By providing specialist engineering expertise on behalf of the Engineering Manager, the department contributes towards delivering high-performance assets safely and efficiently to maximise revenue and operational availability.
There will be an expectation to travel to other offices and sites outside of your base location (including Europe/Overseas) which may involve overnight stays. The role is an onshore office-based position with requirements to go offshore as required.
About the role
* Provide engineering support to the wind farm operations, covering 56 wind turbines, foundations, array cables, and a 24-hour control facility.
* Act as technical lead for all offshore mounting structures and rotating equipment including WTG towers, blades, bearings, and offshore foundations.
* Responsible for creating asset integrity plans identifying technical risks and mitigations.
* Develop and coordinate inspection campaigns to ensure the continued asset integrity of major components such as blades, main bearings, foundations, and davit cranes.
* Conduct onsite audits of Contractors O&M activities during both scheduled and unscheduled tasks.
* Develop and coordinate a programme of plant condition monitoring relevant to the WTG, main bearings, blades, and foundation.
* Make critical decisions to protect long-term asset integrity and where possible optimise the wind farm revenue.
* Work closely with the other Engineers and Operation’s team to ensure optimal planning of resources, plant downtime, and continued asset integrity through life.
* Be responsible for the execution and day-to-day management of projects and annual inspection campaigns.
Job requirements and experience
* Engineer experienced in a power generation or heavy industry environment.
* Analytical approach to problem solving.
* Enhanced communication skills and an ability to engage specialists in complex operations.
* Process-focused with an interest in continuous improvement.
* Experience in managing budgets and contractors.
* Flexible due to the nature of the offshore environment, and the ability to stay offshore for short periods at a time.
* Comfortable inspecting components offshore, often while working at height or in restricted spaces.
* Comfortable working in an office environment, assessing large quantities of multidisciplinary engineering information to provide solutions via reports and presentations.
Advantageous, but not essential
* BEng or MEng preferred. HNC with sufficient experience will be considered.
