Consultant Paediatrician With Expertise in Cardiology

The post holder will be expected to provide leadership and support to the paediatric service, delivering outpatient and inpatient care at the Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals Trust.
The post holder will actively participate with the existing team in developing a comprehensive integrated paediatric cardiology service incorporating the Congenital Heart Disease Standards and Service.
Main duties of the job
The Paediatric Cardiology Service is hosted on the Hull Royal Infirmary site and currently includes a LTFT PEC and a Neonatologist with cardiac expertise. Link nurses are identified on both the ward and NICU, and a 0.25WTE cardiology link nurse is pending. The ACHD local centre was established in August 2018 and is hosted at the Castle Hill Hospital site with outreach clinics and electrophysiologists. We work closely with the Level 1 centre including attendance of MDT and regular outreach clinics as per standards. We have two Vivid E90 Ultrasound machines for use in outpatients and the neonatal unit. They are linked to a cardiac platform for digital storage and transfer of images.
The post holder will contribute to the provision of high-quality medical care for congenital cardiac patients requiring both acute and routine care. They will contribute to the smooth running of the cardiology outpatient clinics. They will be expected to support link nurses in their clinical practice and professional development. They will have general paediatric commitment for both outpatient and inpatient care in keeping with the 'Facing the Future' standards of care, set out by RCPCH. They will contribute to out-of-hours on-call rota, including weekends.

Person Specification
Professional Qualifications and Skills
* MBBS or equivalent
* MRCPCH by examination or appropriate specialist qualification
* Full GMC registration
* Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for entry within 6 months of receipt of Certification of Completion Training (CCT) at the time of interview
* Successful completion of RCPCH SPIN module in cardiology or equivalent specialist experience
* MD or other post-graduate qualification relevant to this post
* Certification in Congenital Heart Disease Echocardiography (EACVI)
Clinical Experience and Effectiveness
* Evidence of thorough and broad training in general paediatrics and experience in the specialty.
* Ability to offer expert clinical opinion on a range of problems both elective and emergency within specialty and manage typical cases seen in secondary care.
* Appropriate experience of managing paediatric congenital cardiac cases in a secondary care setting
* Ability to independently perform 2D transthoracic echocardiogram and interpretation of electrocardiograms, holter monitors and exercise tests
* Understanding of performance measures
* Demonstrate good knowledge of the structures and culture of the NHS, roles, responsibilities and relationships across the MDT and the multi-professional team
* Extensive experience in managing paediatric cardiology, including modern technologies.
* Experience and training in child protection Level 3
Research
* Knowledge of the principles of research/audit tools and ability to interpret and apply clinical research
* Experience and/or qualification in Research
* Published research GCP certification
Teaching and Training Experience
* Knowledge and experience of supervising undergraduates, junior medical doctors and other staff
