Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and proactive HSQE Manager to oversee all Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental aspects of construction and prefabrication projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, promoting a culture of safety, and driving continuous improvement across project operations. The HSQE Manager will have the autonomy to manage their own diary, with working hours from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday.
Key Responsibilities
Health & Safety
• Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies tailored to construction and prefabrication activities.
• Conduct site audits, risk assessments, and inspections for both the company and its clients.
• Deliver site-specific safety training and toolbox talks.
• Monitor compliance with health and safety regulations, including the management of F10 notifications.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses to identify root causes and implement preventative measures.
• Managing CHAS and Fensa
Quality Management
• Oversee the implementation of quality management systems, ensuring compliance with ISO 9001 standards.
• Conduct quality audits, inspecting prefabricated components and on-site installation processes.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance construction efficiency and quality standards.
Environmental Management
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, minimising the environmental impact of construction activities.
• Develop site-specific environmental management plans, including waste reduction and pollution control measures.
• Promote sustainable sourcing and use of materials, particularly in prefabrication processes.
Stakeholder Management
• Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and suppliers to align HSQE objectives with project goals.
• Act as the primary point of contact for CHAS and Fensa accreditation requirements.
• Promote a culture of safety and quality through clear communication and leadership.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
• IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH General Certificate.
• Extensive experience (5+ years) managing HSQE in construction and prefabrication projects.
• Proven track record of managing safety, quality, and environmental standards for complex projects.
• Experience conducting site audits, inspections, and producing risk assessments and method statements.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality standards.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
Desirable
• Membership of a professional body (e.g., IOSH, CQI).
• Experience dealing with CHAS and Fensa accreditation processes.
• Experience in managing prefabrication or modular construction projects.
