Are you a dedicated healthcare professional looking to advance your career in Surgical Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC)? We are excited to offer a Trainee ACP position at Barnsley Hospital, with university training commencing in September.
As a Trainee ACP, you will start at Band 6 and progress to Band 7 upon completing three core modules. Once you successfully complete the full course and competencies, you will be uplifted to Band 8a.

This is a fantastic opportunity to develop advanced clinical skills, work within a dynamic surgical SDEC team, and make a real difference to patient care.
SDEC is committed to the growth and development of the ACP role and are keen to support education and evolution of its team members.
The Surgical Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) unit is for patients who require emergency surgical care that day or can be treated on an ambulatory basis without the need for admission.
Surgical SDEC is located next to the Emergency Department (ED) / medical SDEC and is close to the radiology department. The unit is open from 7:30am-8pm with referrals being accepted from 8am to 6pm seven days a week. The successful candidate will be joining our unit at an exciting time in its development and will be part of a friendly and supportive team.
Main duties of the job
Once qualified you will be expected to work autonomously but within a wider surgical team, assessing, ordering and interpreting investigations, diagnosis and creating an appropriate management plan. This involves complex diagnostic decision making, prescribing, treatment planning and the ability to manage complex situations effectively, safely and decisively, whilst being supported by our SDEC clinical lead and SpR.
We are open to discussing flexibility in the hours that you work. Please talk to us at interview about the flexibility you need, and we will explore what’s possible for the role and service.
