Requirements
You will have diploma in Social Work or equivalent.
Responsibilities
You will carry out a key leadership and management role through direct line management of Locality Team Managers, Senior Officers and matrix service-wide management in order to promote and quality assure practice improvement and develop consistently excellent Social Work practice across the city.
You will contribute and lead on the development and implementation of strategic and performance improvement plans across the service and within individual teams, including with partner agencies where appropriate.
You will provide regular update reports and recommendations to the management team on the implementation or extension of best practice and actions to address agreed areas for improvement.
You will help co-ordinate and provide additional targeted support to Social Work teams through the organisation and/or delivery of training and development programmes, including with specific teams and individual staff.
You will ensure the efficient and effective operational management of physical, human and financial resources in a designated service area towards agreed priorities.
The Individual
You will have previous experience in Social Work posts, including management and leadership experience and wide knowledge of social policy and legislation relating to the provision of social care for children and young people. You will have evidence of professional practice achievements in relation to assessment and protection, experience of implementation and application of personnel policies and procedures, experience of working in context of changing social policy and legislation relating to Child Protection and Looked After Children.
You will have staff supervisory experience and skills in leading and working collaboratively with other agencies. You will have the ability to communicate well in writing and verbally; skills in planning, budget management organising and decision-making, the ability to contribute to strategic planning and performance improvement, including through data analysis.
You will be required to undertake specified in-service training.
You will be prepared to work hours according to operational needs and to make and receive telephone calls at home.
You must be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council within a specified timeframe.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check, prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Dundee City Council.
