We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Matron to join our fantastic Care of the Elderly Team within the Geriatrics Clinical Group. You will play a pivotal role in shaping a compassionate, equitable, and transparent working environment aligned with our Trust values. Collaboratively, you will ensure the delivery of high-quality care through effective leadership, mentorship, and partnership with MDT working. You will benefit from the guidance of the Clinical Care Group Director of Nursing, Head of Nursing and work closely with the ward teams, flow nurses, Clinical site Practitioners, Band 7's and a dedicated education team. Working closely within the Geriatrics Clinical Group across both Queen's and King George Hospitals, you will:
1. Lead and mentor the Band 7 team
2. Contribute to the development and implementation of innovative clinical practices and education
3. Play a strategic role in enhancing service delivery and efficiency.
Main duties of the job
The Matron's role is a senior nursing role providing leadership and direction to nursing staff in Geriatrics across Queen's and King George Hospitals, and other satellite sites.
The post holder will work in a directorate triumvirate with the Clinical Director and the General Manager, with a particular focus on providing high quality, safe, well-governed, productive and cost-effective services which support the Trust in delivering its strategic objectives.
This role along with triumvirate colleagues will provide compassionate and inclusive leadership to those within their areas of responsibility. In addition, there will be joint responsibility and accountability with the triumvirate for delivering patient safety, financial targets, efficiencies, workforce planning and service delivery to improve safe patient flow within and outside the directorate.

Person Specification
Experience/Knowledge
* Nursing Leadership experience at a senior level
Qualifications
* Adult Registered Nurse
* Currently in a Band 8A or above role for a minimum of 2 years
* Geriatrics and Frailty nursing experience
* Leadership and Mentorship training
Personal Qualities
* Demonstrable ability to meet Trust values
