Job Title: Mechanical and Electrical Commissioning Engineer

Role Overview:
Our client, a leading player in the Nuclear and Defense sector, is seeking experienced Mechanical and Electrical Commissioning Engineers to join their team, operating in a highly regulated nuclear environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising onsite commissioning activities, ensuring that all testing is conducted safely, accurately, and in compliance with project and company governance. The role will involve coordination with various teams, preparation and review of commissioning documentation, and ensuring compliance with all relevant safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise onsite commissioning activities to ensure safe, compliant, and accurate testing.
* Write and review commissioning procedures and Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) for suitability of activities.
* Prepare and submit commissioning documentation for presentation to the Testing & Commissioning Panel for review and approval.
* Identify potential hazards before they occur (e.g., no shielding on moving parts or live terminals) and implement appropriate control measures.
* Plan onsite commissioning activities, ensuring coordination with other working parties and attending site planning meetings.
* Ensure system and area boundaries are preestablished before commissioning, with necessary boundary isolations in place, coordinated with the system AP (Authorised Person).
* Ensure commissioning documents and SSOW are followed by all parties involved in the activity.
* Raise commissioning reservations and seek guidance from the commissioning manager or engineering support when issues arise.
* Ensure final plant configuration post commissioning aligns with the commissioning document or is agreed with the commissioning manager.
Required Experience:
* Experience in commissioning systems, including:
* Supply and extract ventilation
* Vacuum systems
* Environmental commissioning
* Mechanical commissioning support
* Electrical pre-commissioning of mechanical systems
* Static inverters and UPS systems
* Experience with commissioning completion systems is beneficial.
Qualifications and Clearance:
* SC or DV security clearance required (if not currently held, application will be necessary).
* CSCS card in a relevant field.
Key Skills:
* Proven experience in mechanical commissioning within a highly regulated environment.
* Strong understanding of safety protocols and quality standards in commissioning.
* Ability to coordinate with various teams and stakeholders to ensure smooth commissioning processes.
