Job Description
The Dundee and Angus Out of Hours Service is responsible for responding to requests in relation to the whole spectrum of Social Work Services, including services for children and vulnerable adults who are in need, or at risk of harm. The team also has a key role in the implementation of any civil emergency procedures and is the first point of contact for all Social Work business out with normal office hours. Based at Seymour House, 274 Clepington Road, Dundee, you will undertake rostered duties out with normal working hours (including evenings, weekends, public holidays and night working). There is no obligation on the Children & Families to offer you work, nor are you obliged to accept work.
Requirements
You will have a Degree in Social Work, CQSW, Dip Social Work, CSS (with appropriate option); and have undertaken some post-qualifying training in Child Protection/Adult Support and Protection.
Responsibilities
You will contribute to the Out of Hours Social Work service by undertaking rostered duties. You will assist the Duty Co-Ordinator in receiving, assessing and responding to all calls for an Out of Hours Social Work service for Dundee City and Angus Council.
The Individual
You will have post qualifying experience in Child Protection/Adult Support & Protection, experience of assessing and responding to concerns in the social work role, collaborative working and knowledge of relevant legislation. You will also have good assessment skills, confidence in your Social Work role, along with good written and oral communication, crisis management and negotiating skills. You will be motivated, enthusiastic and team orientated. You will be willing to undertake additional training. You will be able to be away from home for long hours, to work flexibly and at short notice, and to travel independently across Dundee City and Angus areas out with normal hours. You will be able to register with the Scottish Social Services Council within specified timescales. This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check, prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Dundee City Council. A current driving licence is essential.
