Job Description
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Support and collaborate with the team to produce lavish buffets and elaborate banquet menus in Conference and Events.
2. Assist the team in demonstrating flair to brainstorm and create new items for our guests.
3. Ability to interpret event orders and deliver based on the clients' needs.
4. Actively promote and participate in teamwork and positive communication with the kitchen and other departments.
5. Cultivate a positive work environment where learning and personal development is celebrated.
6. Ensure food standards, preparation, presentation, and cooking techniques are established and monitored to meet Sofitel Brand Standards guidelines.
7. Ensure the highest level of hygiene is practiced to meet Health & Safety regulations and HACCP food preparation guidelines.
8. Ensuring food safety logs and requirements are met at all times.
9. Work with and coordinate the work of Apprentice Chefs in the preparation and production of food as required.
10. Ensure strict stock rotation and minimum wastage, whereby you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining stock control procedures.
11. Ensure all equipment is maintained, serviced, and cleaned.
Qualifications
SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:
1. Trade qualified and a minimum of 1 year experience in a commercial kitchen environment is a plus.
2. Experience within a restaurant, hotel environment, or events kitchen is an advantage.
3. Be able to demonstrate creativity and flair in menu and design.
4. As with the hospitality industry, you will be available to work various rostered shifts.
5. Understanding of safety and manual handling requirements.
6. Remain calm and effective in high volume work situations.
7. Be a good team player; contribute to and assist co-workers without being asked.
8. Flexibility to work a rotating roster including mornings or evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
