Job Summary We are looking for an NPI & Production Engineer to join the small but growing Production Engineering department within Carallon, where they will further develop and run robust manufacturing systems and procedures compliant with ISO 9001 certification. The successful candidate will have at least 4-5 years’ experience of working in an industrial production engineering environment. The candidate will ensure effective New Product Introduction from engineering into volume manufacture, managing specifications, systems, and processes to deliver products to market on schedule with consistent high quality. They will consult on the manufacturability of new products and the readiness of associated test tools and processes. They will also be responsible for the productivity and continuous improvement of existing products currently in production. Accurate management of all product and change records, BoMs, revision documentation, components and manufacturing instructions is a critical requirement of the role. The candidate will be required to manage and schedule specification changes to labels, packaging etc. through ECNs to meet changing compliance requirements, and to satisfy regular updates and requests from customers. They will provide a first point of technical support contact to manufacturing, acting as a liaison to the engineering department to resolve production/field issues and integrate design changes due to defects or component lifetime issues. They will further assist the manufacturing department in the investigation of any defective or non-conforming component issues and lead efforts to find a resolution. They will be responsible for managing and prioritising Documented Issues registers and Software Features/Fixes requests in Manufacturing Tools liaising with R&D engineers and working with the Manufacturing Manager, Production Supervisor and Technical Leads to ensuring Work Instructions capture all changes. Key Responsibilities Interface with design and project teams to produce plans and schedule activities that ensure new product introduction at optimum cost and quality. Give feedback on the feasibility of technical product specifications from clients Interact with design and project teams to ensure product is designed for manufacturability, including Lean flow and elimination of waste Communicate progress, risks and issues for escalation to manufacturing and procurement Be the first point of contact for manufacturing in the event of any process or technical problem Be responsible for standard process times, accuracy and reduction initiatives Take ownership of managing the re-engineering of existing products due to product refreshes or component availability issues Act as an expert in component family trees, bill of materials and the management of engineering change orders Liaise with designers, manufacturing and support to help structure engineering changes correctly Work with Purchasing to develop new suppliers for new or revised parts Oversee and review suitability of end user label and packaging designs for products, produced by a graphic designer Establish cost-benefit data to reduce inventory obsolescence and reworks Essential Qualifications Degree in a related subject from a Russell Group university or equivalent At least 4-5 years’ industry experience in product engineering Experience of Lean manufacturing, process design and stabilisation Experience in continuous improvement in a production environment Ability to communicate ideas and concepts effectively in spoken and written English within a technical environment, including preparation of system and process documentation Ability to discuss prior work, explain the chosen processes involved and justify decisions made Excellent proactivity, attention to detail and methodical approach to tasks Desirable Extras Experience in ISO 9001 documentation and audit compliance Experience of team leadership and/or line management Interest in or experience working with video or lighting products for live entertainment
