Brief Description
Route Services is a division of Network Rail that provides the Routes with services so they can help Network Rail deliver a better railway for a better Britain. This role sits within Supply Chain Operations (SCO), which supplies and delivers the logistics, materials, components, rail and road fleet that enable the maintenance and renewal of the railway.
About the role (External)
To support the Lead Engineer (High Output) in all technical matters associated with the planning and construction of the allocated multi-disciplinary sites and to coordinate all P Way aspects of construction and associated works with the other disciplines.
Key Accountabilities
1. Confirm that proposed construction plans are safe, cost-effective, and achievable and assist the Lead Engineer in improving productivity and introducing innovation.
2. Carry out analysis, prepare plans/programmes, designs, review or check Particular Specification, designs or estimates, undertake detailed planning, site visits and progress work and understand risk assessments.
3. Produce planning documents, multi-discipline Work Package Plans and Task Briefs and discuss all construction and constructability issues with the construction team.
4. Control all on-site technical activities and quality control and follow all safety critical processes (such as Ground disturbance, CRT, track commissioning).
5. Refer non-compliances to the standards and all technical issues to the Lead Engineer.
6. Guarantee timely production and communication of reports, including the submission of technical documents for the Health and Safety file.
7. Attendance at planning, progress and technical meetings as directed.
8. Attendance at engineering and technical briefing and training courses to build on skills ability and knowledge.
Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications
Essential
* Education to HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or equivalent suitable experience.
* Comprehensive understanding of permanent way and related engineering principles, including interfaces between disciplines.
* Good knowledge and understanding of track standards, processes and procedures.
* Computer literacy.
* Safety Management training.
* Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation relevant to Construction and Engineering.
* Must be able to drive.
Desirable
* Working towards a professional qualification.

Location: This position is based in Crewe.
Hours: up to 40 hours per week with hybrid working and travel as required.
Salary range: £36,000 to £42,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
