Join a dynamic and forward-thinking school dedicated to supporting students aged 3 to 18 with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs). This school caters to a diverse range of special educational needs and/or disabilities, from moderate to profound and multiple, including students with autism and associated behaviors.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will collaborate closely with teachers and senior staff to implement support, care, and educational programs, assisting students with severe learning difficulties and complex needs, including challenging behaviors, to access their education. Your role will involve working in various educational settings, both inside and outside the classroom.
Please note that due to the nature of this role, candidates must be UK residents living locally. We are unable to offer visa sponsorship for overseas applicants.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support to students, including those with special needs, ensuring their safety and engagement in learning activities.
- Establish positive, constructive relationships with students, adapting interactions to meet their individual needs.
- Assist in the implementation of personal care plans (e.g., eating, toileting, continence) to promote independence and participation.
- Work alongside teachers to apply strategies that help students meet their learning goals.
- Contribute to fostering an inclusive learning environment throughout the school.
- Support students during both independent and group activities.
- Utilize specialist knowledge, training, and experience to offer appropriate support.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade C or above), and NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualifications, skills, or experience.
- Experience supporting children in a classroom setting.
- Experience working with children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities.
- Familiarity with the national curriculum and relevant learning programs and strategies.
- A commitment to maintaining high standards and improving outcomes across all areas of work.
- A professional, ethical approach, with strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships at all levels.
