Job Title: Senior Audit & Accounts Manager / Partner Designate Location: Central London Salary: £70,000 - £100,000 (dependent on experience) Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent Pentagon Talent are thrilled to be supporting our client who is a boutique accountancy firm, with a dynamic and growing client base, to recruit for an ambitious, qualified, and experienced Senior Audit & Accounts Manager / Partner Designate. This exciting role provides a unique opportunity for the right candidate to become a key player within their firm and work closely alongside the Partners, to oversee the development of the business. This role is ideal for an individual looking to progress quickly into a leadership position and eventually take on a partnership role. The Senior Audit & Accounts Manager will have a broad remit that covers managing the audit department, overseeing a team of professionals, and playing a key role in business development. Key Responsibilities: Audit & Accounts Management: Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the audit department, ensuring high-quality service delivery for a diverse range of clients. Manage a portfolio of clients with turnovers ranging from £10k to £230m, handling complex consolidated accounts, including overseas consolidation under IFRS. Supervise and mentor an Audit Manager, providing guidance and support while maintaining oversight of client delivery. Communicate regularly with clients, attending meetings to discuss accounts and audit matters, ensuring clarity and effective management of expectations. Leadership & Staff Development: Act as a key link between the Partners and staff, ensuring effective communication across all levels of the firm. Provide leadership to a team of 7 staff members, fostering a positive and productive work environment. Ensure team members are supported with professional development opportunities and manage their performance. Business Development & Practice Growth: Assist with business development activities to attract new clients and expand the firm’s portfolio. Participate in networking events and client pitches to generate new business opportunities and maintain long-term relationships. Bring in new fees, contributing to the firm’s growth and strategic direction. Assurance & Practice Management: Support in the running of the firm, helping the Partners with day-to-day management and operational tasks. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards, maintaining the firm’s reputation for delivering high-quality audit and accounting services. Provide input into strategic decisions regarding the firm’s future direction. Software Proficiency: Use Iris for accounts production, Caseware for audit, and a variety of bookkeeping packages such as Sage, QuickBooks, Xero, and bespoke software for client services. Key Skills & Experience: ACA/ACCA qualified (or equivalent) with a strong background in audit and accounts. Proven experience in a managerial or senior role within an accountancy firm, with a focus on audit and accounts services. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain client relationships. Experience in managing and developing teams, with the ability to lead by example and encourage a collaborative working environment. Knowledge of IFRS, overseas consolidations, and handling clients with varied turnover ranges. Ideally, experience as an Responsible Individual (RI), or the desire to become an RI. Ability to work independently and contribute to the firm’s business development efforts. Benefits: Progression: Opportunity to become a salary partner and, eventually, an equity partner.
