We are currently seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor in the water industry. This is a long-term contract role, outside IR35, offering a hybrid working arrangement with a mix of office-based and remote work. The successful candidate will work on high-profile water infrastructure projects, providing key support to project teams and helping manage costs, contracts, and budgets effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Management: Oversee the full cost management process for water industry projects, including budgeting, forecasting, and controlling costs throughout the lifecycle of the project.
Contract Administration: Assist with the preparation, negotiation, and management of contracts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Tendering & Procurement: Work closely with the procurement team to manage tender processes, evaluate bids, and provide accurate cost estimates.
Value Engineering: Provide cost-effective solutions while ensuring compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
Reporting & Documentation: Prepare accurate reports on project costs, variations, and financial forecasts. Ensure timely and accurate submissions to clients.
Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate risks to the project, ensuring projects remain within budget and meet deadlines.
Client & Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers, ensuring smooth project delivery.
Skills & Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor in the water sector or similar infrastructure projects (e.g., utilities, civil engineering).
Strong understanding of contract law, procurement, and cost management in the water or utilities industry.
Experience with FIDIC, NEC, or similar contract frameworks.
Proficiency in quantity surveying software (e.g., CostX, Conquest) and MS Office applications.
Strong knowledge of financial management, including estimating, valuations, and final accounts.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
Degree-level qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related field (MRICS or equivalent preferred for Senior Quantity Surveyor role).
Outside IR35 contract status.
Requirements:
Previous experience in a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor role within the water industry.
Strong commercial acumen and the ability to manage complex projects.
Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, balancing office and remote working.
A proactive and solution-focused approach to problem-solving.
Availability to start within a reasonable time frame.
