Senior Controls Engineer - Automation & Innovation
Location: Shropshire | Job Type: Permanent | Hybrid Working
Salary: £55,000 - £70,000 + Car Allowance + Bonus + BUPA
Samuel Frank is looking for a Senior Controls Engineer to join a rapidly expanding systems integrator based in Shropshire. This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of automation projects, including factory automation, automated warehouses, marine systems, renewables, and metal processing.
This is a hybrid role with three days in the office (Monday, Wednesday, plus one of your choice) and two days from home.

Key Responsibilities - Senior Controls Engineer
1. PLC, HMI, SCADA, robotics, and variable speed drive software development
2. Software design specifications and full software lifecycle management
3. Mentor and support less experienced Controls Engineers
4. Electrical and controls concept design, including:
1. Functional Design Specification (FDS)
2. Safety Requirements Specification (SRS)
3. Single Line Diagrams
4. Network Topology & Device Layout
5. Cause & Effect Matrix & Safety Block Diagrams
5. Collaboration with commissioning and installation teams - minimal site work required
Ideal Candidate - Senior Controls Engineer
1. Proven experience as a Senior Controls Engineer in an automation, systems integration, or manufacturing environment
2. Strong knowledge of PLC programming, SCADA development, and control system architecture
3. Ability to design, develop, and troubleshoot automation solutions
4. Strong communication and mentorship skills
5. A desire to work on innovative, industry-leading projects
