An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the well established and valued Parent Infant Psychology Service in Haringey, known as PIPS for a locum maternity cover post.
We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic clinical psychologist or parent infant psychotherapist to join the core PIPS team and work alongside our multidisciplinary Family Hub team, who comprise of experienced colleagues from midwifery and family nurse partnership.
Main duties of the job
This post will offer therapeutic assessments and clinical sessions to parents and babies in the community, and scope to develop therapeutic work.
There is an outreach aspect to this role, and a chance to link with many interesting peer support services and outreach work offered in the borough. We are also considering where we want to develop parent infant therapy for vulnerable babies who have been born premature /spent time in NICU and SCBU and would benefit from therapeutic input on leaving hospital.
Job responsibilities
The main responsibilities are offering innovative and evidence based interventions to parents and babies in the community in Haringey, across our team base and in Family Hubs. In addition to the core PIPS work, we invite experience of working with trauma, working with staff groups offering reflective practice, and experience of offering Solihull Antenatal groups, post natal groups for parents and babies, use of VIG with parents and babies and other parent infant support.
There is a training and consultation focus to this post, ensuring that partner agencies feel more confident in assessing and thinking about parents and infant mental health, and helping to triage therapeutic work.
There are opportunities to strengthen our outreach offer and work with partner agencies to develop their therapeutic offer to families in the borough with under 2s.
The successful candidate will be joining a well established Parent Infant Psychology service of Clinical Psychologists and Parent Infant Psychotherapy.

Education / Qualifications
Essential
* Post-graduate/ doctoral level qualification in clinical psychology, counselling psychology, Parent Infant Psychotherapy or Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy as recognised by HCPC/DOH/UKP/ACP or other relevant professional qualification recognised by appropriate registering bodies.
Skills & Abilities

* High level knowledge of the theory and practice
* Skills in effective communication, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
* Ability to form good working relationships and work flexibly with others in multi-disciplinary and multi-agency settings
Knowledge & Experience
Essential
* High-level knowledge of the theory and practice of psychological interventions
* Knowledge and skills of a range of models in the assessment and treatment of child mental health
* Knowledge of the relevant clinical research literature and ability to apply it to the field of child mental health for each service area
