Job Title: Third-in-Charge (Early Years Nursery)

Overview:
We are looking for an experienced, dedicated, and passionate professional to join our team as Third-in-Charge at our Early Years Nursery. This role is ideal for someone who is committed to providing high-quality care and education to young children, supporting staff, and working closely with the management team to ensure the smooth operation of the nursery.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support Nursery Leadership: Assist the Nursery Manager and Deputy Manager in the daily running of the nursery, ensuring all children receive exceptional care and early education.
* Team Leadership: Supervise and provide guidance to nursery staff, supporting their professional development through mentorship and regular feedback. Ensure that all staff members adhere to nursery policies and procedures.
* Curriculum Implementation: Collaborate with the team to deliver a child-centered, play-based curriculum that aligns with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Support planning, observation, and assessment processes.
* Child Development & Welfare: Take responsibility for the well-being and development of all children in your group. Observe, assess, and report on progress, ensuring each child’s individual needs are met.
* Safeguarding & Health & Safety: Maintain a safe and healthy environment for both children and staff. Ensure that safeguarding policies and procedures are followed at all times and that children are supervised appropriately.
* Parental Engagement: Build positive relationships with parents and carers, maintaining clear communication regarding their child’s development, daily activities, and any concerns.
* Admin Support: Assist with administrative tasks as needed, including maintaining children’s records, completing assessments, and contributing to reports for parents and regulatory bodies.
* Compliance & Standards: Ensure the nursery complies with all relevant regulations, including Ofsted standards, health & safety legislation, and safeguarding requirements.
* Cover for Absences: Provide support in the absence of senior staff, taking on the role of Deputy Manager or Manager if required, ensuring continuity of service.
Skills & Experience:
* Level 3 or higher qualification in Early Years Education (e.g., Early Years Educator or equivalent).
* Minimum 2 years of experience working within an Early Years setting, with experience in a leadership or supervisory role preferred.
* Strong understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with children, parents, and staff.
* A passion for working with children and supporting their learning and development.
* Ability to lead by example, with a hands-on approach and a positive attitude to problem-solving.
* Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
