Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
* Assisting in the daily control, management, and coordination of site activities
* Keeping a detailed diary of works planned and carried out by sub-contractors
* Ensuring our sub-contractors are working to the latest programme of works, are signed up to the relevant method statements and checking they understand what is required
* Contributing to site progress meetings
* Building positive working relationships with sub-contractors
* Solving issues on site and monitoring risks
* Ensuring health & safety is adhered to, including site inspections, and conducting site inductions
* Ensuring that all relevant paperwork is received, reviewed and communicated where necessary
* Logging and resolving any defects found and challenging current methodology by putting forward innovative ideas
* You will be involved in all aspects of construction project delivery from concept design, through to construction, commissioning, validation, handover and into operation

Course contents
* Identify risk of activities and encourage all employees to demonstrate safety-conscious behaviours.
* Assess, identify and record the environmental impact of projects.
* Assist in the implementation of the most appropriate solutions for construction projects.
* Use effective management principles and be able to supervise construction workers.
* Understand overall plan for project and measure and record progress against plan.
* Assess and report on quality standards and assist in commissioning of finished construction projects.
* Understand financial and legal constraints and measure and record progress against budget.
Your training plan
* Initially, you will be studying a level 4 qualification in Construction Management at Anglia Ruskin University, with the option to progress to a level 6 qualification afterwards.
