The successful candidate will support the Clinical Director of Pharmacy and Medicines Management to provide strategic, clinical and professional leadership for the development of pharmacy services across Hywel Dda University Health Board. They will work in close collaboration with senior leaders to deliver the vision for pharmacy services across the sectors, developing and delivering innovative, high quality services to improve patient care.
They will be responsible for developing a confident and flexible workforce working seamlessly across the Health Board in partnership with the team and wider professions.
Main duties of the job
This postholder will:
1. Be a key member of the Senior Pharmacy Leadership team and responsible for ensuring a high quality and effective Pharmacy and Medicines Management service is provided across the Health Board to our patients.
2. Lead and develop medicines management services across hospital sites and primary care, developing integrated clinical service strategies to improve medicines management across the Health Board, delivering on the actions of the Clinical Pharmacy Service Review to align the service to meet current and future needs of the Health Board.
3. Be responsible for the medicines management service improvement, business planning and financial management across the Health Board, taking a lead role to develop and implement strategy, policy and operational plans, including the provision of aseptic services and homecare services.
4. Work in close collaboration with the Clinical Director to bring research and development into pharmacy practice and ensure that a programme of research and development activity is developed, including the identification of the resources required to support this programme.
5. Lead on the Health Board's cost improvement plans for Pharmacy and Medicines Management to work collaboratively with the Senior Pharmacy Leadership team, prescribers and other healthcare staff to ensure that prescribing budgets are managed effectively, providing expert advice on all aspects of medicines management, including evidence-based and economic use of medicines.

Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential
* Masters degree in Pharmacy (or equivalent degree)
* Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society
* Evidence of commitment to Continuing Professional Development
* Postgraduate Clinical or Technical Pharmacy qualification - or demonstrable equivalent experience.
* Postgraduate management qualification relevant to the NHS - or demonstrable equivalent experience
Desirable
* Faculty Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society

* Significant experience at senior management level within NHS (hospital, primary care or community) pharmacy services
* Expert knowledge of and experience in implementing strategies and plans for the delivery of services and policy directives
* Evidence of leading and effectively managing complex organisational change
* Proven experience of project and programme management capability
* A proven track record of dealing with complex situations and the delivery of challenging corporate objectives
* Evidence of successfully influencing senior management and other professionals
