To lead and supervise the day to day delivery of a diagnostic service within the Microbiology Department and provide advanced Biomedical science technical support by providing training, advice, technical development, and supervision within all areas of the laboratory. While maintaining an up to date knowledge and competency to practise within all areas of the laboratory working.

Person specification
Knowledge
* Extensive discipline specific laboratory experience.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation and safety measures.
* Training, mentoring and staff development.
* Supervisory experience.
* Experience of Quality Management Systems.
* Good working knowledge of Pathology IT systems.
* Experienced in teaching staff by means of presentations or 1 to 1.
Qualifications
* IBMS accredited degree or demonstrated equivalent.
* IBMS HSD, MSc (candidates who are within 9 months of completion will be considered).
* HCPC registration.
* Evidence of continuous professional development (CPD).
Experience
* Experience of using instrumentation and specialised techniques within the microbiology department/sections.
Disclosure and Barring Checks (DBS)
