About the role:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced financial accountant to join our team in a critical role overseeing the end-to-end processing of high volumes of rent transactions and invoices. This role offers an exciting opportunity for an agile professional with a background in managing transactional finance teams. Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, you will lead and manage teams across Revenue Accounting, Accounts Payable, and Capital Accounting to ensure accurate and efficient financial processes.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the transactional aspects of Financial Control, ensuring compliance and accuracy across teams.
* Deputise for the Group Financial Controller, providing leadership and support to the Financial Control team.
* Manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing team consisting of the Procure to Pay Manager, Senior Revenue Accountant and Senior Capital Accountant.
* Oversee the Accounts Payable team to ensure the efficient, timely, and accurate processing of Purchase Orders through to payment.
* Collaborate with key stakeholders to drive automation improvements in Accounts Payable and standardise invoice processing across capital and operational invoices.
* Supervise the Revenue Accounting team to ensure timely processing of rent charges and accurate allocation of customer receipts in line with agreed SLAs.
* Oversee the Capital Accounting team, ensuring proper handling of high-value capital invoices and accurate accounting of grants.
* Ensure timely delivery of compliance reporting, including the Quarterly Grant Transparency Report and the Revenue Accounting section of the NROSH Quarterly Financial Survey.
* Manage the production of fully approved balance sheet reconciliations, including bank reconciliations, aged debtors/creditors, and cash in transit.
* Take responsibility for intercompany transactions, producing monthly intercompany matrices and shareholder loan/interest schedules.
* Continuously maintain and improve strong internal controls within transactional finance teams, identifying risks and implementing mitigations.
* Support the Month-End Close, Annual External Audit, and other cyclical processes as required.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives, adopting new processes and enhancing existing ones within the transactional finance function.
About you
* Hold a professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, ACA, CIMA).
* Extensive post-qualification experience, preferably within the real estate industry.
* Proven experience managing and developing high-performing teams in fast-paced, technical environments.
* Exceptional attention to detail and a highly inquisitive approach to problem-solving.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage and drive tasks and projects to completion independently.
* Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
* Advanced Excel skills, with experience handling large datasets efficiently.
* Demonstrated experience managing change within a finance team.
* A proactive and tenacious approach to overcoming challenges and supporting the team.
