We are currently looking for 2x Test & Termination Apprentices to join our team based in Hartlepool. As a Test & Termination Apprentice, you will have the opportunity to gain nationally recognised qualifications in Engineering through a blend of work-based training and college study.
A Test & Termination Apprentice will gain hands-on experience in electrical and hydraulic testing, learning from experts in the field. You will be trained to inspect, assemble, and test subsea components, ensuring all products meet high-quality standards.
As an Apprentice Test and Termination Technician, you will:
* Learn Termination and Inspection: Gain experience in terminating, inspecting, and testing manufactured products in line with specifications, FAT procedures, quality plans, and other requirements.
* Assist with Testing: Help with electrical, hydraulic, and optical testing of subsea components and ensure they conform to design and quality standards.
* Work with Power Cores: Assist with the termination and splicing of power cores, using air terminations and T connectors for HV testing.
* Document and Report: Learn how to complete test documentation, create test reports, and generate non-conformance reports when needed.
* Mechanical Assembly: Get hands-on experience assembling termination parts and swaging hydraulic/pneumatic hoses, as well as integrating components like stab plates.
* Support and Learn from Experts: Receive training from experienced team members and help with the training of new staff or inductions.
* Maintain a Safe Work Environment: Keep your work area clean and tidy while adhering to health and safety policies.
What You Need:
* Interest in Electrical and Hydraulic Systems: A keen interest in electrical or hydraulic systems is essential, but no prior experience is required – we will train you.
* Willingness to Learn: A strong desire to learn and grow within the field, along with a good attitude and attention to detail.
* Hands-On Approach: This is a practical, hands-on role requiring a degree of physical strength and stamina.
* Problem Solving Skills: The ability to follow processes and procedures while troubleshooting and finding solutions.
* Basic Computer Skills: Familiarity with PCs and basic IT skills is desirable.
* Team Spirit: A passion for quality and pride in your work is important, as you’ll be working with a dedicated and motivated team.
As an Apprentice, you will earn a competitive apprentice salary for the duration of the scheme. Successful completion of the apprenticeship could then lead to an exciting career within JDR Cable Systems along with the opportunity to undertake further training.
To be considered for these opportunities you must have 4 GCSE grades at level 4 or above including English and Maths and be computer literate. You should have a keen interest in our growing industry and be motivated to achieve results to a level above and beyond what is expected. Hours of work will be 37.5 hrs per week, Monday to Friday.
