We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Wastewater Manager to lead, develop and manage United Utilities strategic direction for drainage related activities across our Wastewater business. You will be developing strategies that support excellent service, add value and support long-term stewardship for the environment and assets that proudly serve the 7 million people and 200,000 businesses in the North West England. You will be supporting the delivery of the AMP8 base programme for wastewater network and integrating strategies into wider Wholesale plans including the DWMP and the PR24 business plan submission. You will need to be a subject matter expert on relevant wastewater promises, outcomes and performance commitments.
Responsibilities:
* Responsible for the development, maintenance, communication and embedment of drainage strategies.
* Subject matter expert on relevant wastewater promises, outcomes and performance commitments.
* Development of Price Review content, including chapter content, designing performance commitments and preparing cost adjustment claims.
* Define the regional 5-year plan for wastewater network and translate this into county-level plans.
* Work with the Totex team to define County area budgets and financial targets, including TOTEX budgets for delivery, effective maintenance or planned projects.
* Ownership of performance commitment delivery plans for key wastewater network measures.
* Dynamic modification of strategies and plans where needed to meet business targets.
* Undertake specific projects or initiatives as directed by the Head of Planning and Performance.
* Track and monitor the regional performance to actively embed strategic targets.
* Work alongside Asset Management to ensure in-year and in-AMP performance align to long-term plans.
* Responsible for the effective completion of horizon scanning within the function.
* Responsible for the identification of research and development and to represent United Utilities on UKWIR projects to influence industry research.
Minimum Requirements:
To be successful in this role you will need a degree or postgraduate qualification in a science or environmental discipline or have significant relevant experience in operational management of the wastewater system. You will also need:
* Wide experience and a good knowledge of relevant business practices, techniques and policies.
* Knowledge and experience of wastewater activities, design, construction, operation and maintenance.
* Knowledge of business finance procedures.
* Thorough understanding of the impact of wastewater activities on our customers and key stakeholders.
* The ability to demonstrate strategic thinking at all levels of the business.
* Excellent analytical reasoning, project management, negotiating, influencing, and financial skills.
* The ability to maintain knowledge and skills and develop yourself within the role.
* Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
