Job summary
We are looking for a motivated enthusiastic medical receptionist to join our reception team, due to a retirement. Contracted hours would be 26 hours per week - (set hours Tues to Thurs) plus the option of additional hours to cover staff absences.
Main duties of the job
Main duties are - meeting and greeting patients, booking patients in from triage, answering the telephone, processing prescription requests, registering new patients, deducting patients. The role includes a variety of admin tasks.
About us
There are four partners at the practice. Dr NavroopShergill, who is Senior Partner, DrMatthew Fisher, Dr Jane Buck and Dr Vicki Cooney. We currently have three salaried doctors: DrMajidah Ali, Dr Tanya Paulose and Dr Moe Moe Thu. Garden Lane is a training practice.
We have 4 Nurse Practitioners, a Practice nurse, a GeneralPractice Assistant, a health-care assistant and a phlebotomist.
The practice is rated as Good by the Care Quality Commissionand we take pride in delivering quality care to our patients.
We have several staff employed by the Primary Care Network. These include: pharmacy technician, pharmacist, socialprescribers, care co-ordinator, dietitian, social prescribers, phlebotomist andhealth and well-being coaches.
The administration team is headed by our Business Director,Hayley Brassington, who oversees the organisation of the medical centre andstrategic management of the business. Dayto day management of the practice is led by the management support team:Administration Service Manager, Business Support Manager and Executive SupportAssistant, with a large admin team.
The practice operates using the EMIS web computersystem for all consultations and appointments and Docman 10 for documentmanagement. We have a Cloud-basedtelephone system. We operate a triagesystem for on the day appointments using Patchs On-line Questionnaires.

Open and prepare the surgery for start of day
Work to reception protocols and procedures
Reception and routing of patients on arrival
Make appointments using the booking systemeither face to face or on the telephone
Book patients in from Patchs triage
Book requests for home visits
File and pull patient medical records as needed
Process all requests for repeat prescriptions
Complete actions received on EMIS tasks, Docmanand Lab Test Due report
Produce letters to send to patients usingtemplates where required
Add registrations for new patients onto EMISand update patient information
Run reports for home visits, contacts anddeductions
Process payments from card/cash/cheques makingnecessary book entries
Distribute incoming mail and prepare outgoingmail and transport to post office
Action emails received in the reception mailbox
Maintain a tidy waiting room and reception areafor incoming colleagues and replenish stocks in clinical rooms

Essential
1. GCSE in English and Maths
2. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
