EP Group - Manufacturing Waste Manager

Our global headquarters in Birmingham is home to our dedicated paper manufacturing division providing a wide range of food packaging products for the likes of McDonalds, Amazon, Marks & Spencer and Greggs.
We are now seeking a Manufacturing Waste Manager to be based on site here in Birmingham. The Manufacturing Waste Manager is responsible for identifying, analyzing, and reducing waste in paper production processes. This role focuses on optimizing material usage, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring compliance with environmental and sustainability regulations. The manager works closely with production, quality, and supply chain teams to develop waste reduction strategies and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
This is a hands on role based on the shop floor, with the expectation that you will support production as necessary.
Key Responsibilities – Manufacturing Waste Manager:
* Develop and implement waste reduction strategies across all manufacturing processes.
* Monitor and analyze waste generation data to identify areas for improvement.
* Lead initiatives to minimize material waste, rework, and scrap through process improvements and Lean manufacturing principles.
* Collaborate with production teams to optimize raw material usage and reduce defects.
* Ensure compliance with environmental and waste management regulations.
* Establish recycling and reuse programs to improve sustainability efforts.
* Train and educate employees on waste reduction techniques and best practices.
* Conduct audits and assessments to identify waste sources and recommend corrective actions.
* Work with suppliers to minimize packaging waste and improve material efficiency.
* Report key performance indicators (KPIs) related to waste reduction and cost savings to management.
Qualifications & Requirements – Manufacturing Waste Manager:
* 5+ years of experience in waste management, manufacturing, or continuous improvement roles.
* Strong knowledge of Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and waste reduction methodologies.
* Experience with data analysis and process optimization.
* Familiarity with environmental regulations and sustainability practices.
* Excellent problem-solving and leadership skills.
* Ability to influence and drive change across cross-functional teams.
* Certification in Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt) desirable
