Wärtsilä Defence Solutions Ltd, WDSL, is part of the wider Wärtsilä Marine Business, which focuses on enhancing the business of its marine and oil & gas industry customers by providing innovation products and integrated solutions that are safe, environmentally sustainable, efficient, flexible and economically sound.
At WDSL we provide integrated shaftline systems, packages and products that offer lifecycle efficiency, decreased costs and reduced risks through the provision of reliable and environmentally sustainable products.
We are now seeking a Continuous Improvement Manager for our Navy Value Stream to provide efficient end-to-end flow that serves our customers' needs. You will be one of the cornerstones of CI, setting up CI practices, being a training facilitator and CI coach.
The successful candidate will be employed on a permanent basis and will be based out of our office in Havant, Hampshire, United Kingdom.
What are your main tasks and responsibilities?
1. Drive continuous improvement of the value stream
2. Lead the CI work within the new build value stream, using our Wärtsilä CI framework
3. Perform detailed value stream mapping and analysis
4. Launch initiatives within and across manufacturing sites and global functions to eliminate waste, increase customer satisfaction, or optimize operations
5. Identify and prioritize process or related tool and application development needs and translating these to action plans
6. Execute changes and maintain new processes
7. Manage the value stream together with our MT members through KPI’s and regular dialogues with key stakeholders
8. Lead initiatives, both within WDSL and with other business units
9. Play a vital role in strategy execution activities
10. Be part of the core CI team of WDSL
11. Co-own the CI framework and way-of-working in WDSL
12. Act as a facilitator in events and trainings
13. Coach the organisation on CI
What do we expect from you?
1. Experience of the Wärtsilä continuous improvement framework, or other frameworks such as lean, six sigma etc.
2. Understanding of WDSL operating model and/or the navy market is seen as an advantage
3. High level of cultural awareness and experience in leading initiatives in a multinational environment
4. Knowledge within the area of stakeholder management, change communication and risk mitigation
5. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
6. Exceptional conceptual, analytical and critical thinking skills
7. Excellent communicator with strong analytical problem-solving skills
8. A strong team player with the ability and willingness to also work independently in a systematic and structured way
9. Ability to take responsibility for your work and take the initiative to secure the completion of your tasks
10. Displays logical sound judgement and maintains the highest ethical standards
11. Motivated and positive attitude to identify practical solutions
12. Willing to travel on occasion
13. Diplomatic in approach to persuade and energise compliance efforts across varied functions
The job is offered subject to successfully obtaining security clearance. Any applicants must hold a British Passport or be eligible to hold one and have resided in the UK continuously for the last 5 years.
