Experienced Residential Children's Support Worker
Residential Children's Support Worker opportunities in Leicestershire.
Our client works with children and young people aged 7 - 18 years with challenging behaviour and emotional behaviour difficulties.
We are looking for an outstanding Residential Support Worker to deliver exceptional care to our young people.
Location: Ibstock LE67 Leicestershire
Contract: Temporary (Potential to go temp to perm)
Children's residential support worker responsibilities:
1. Supervising children and young people before and after the school/college day including mealtimes and to proactively support/encourage the development of their cooking skills.
2. Accompanying children and young people on recreational activities and demonstrating positive role modelling.
3. Assisting in developing strategies in behaviour management and taking a lead role in managing the young person's challenging behaviour, implementing the strategies agreed.
4. Promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons that the job holder is responsible for and staying updated in relation to any changes within safeguarding legislation and policy.
5. Ensuring healthcare needs of the children and young people are met, including making appointments and accompanying them, and completing written reports following their attendance. Ensuring all medical and clinical procedures are carried out safely (undergoing any relevant training to enhance your skills).
6. Demonstrating empathy, sensitivity, self-awareness and acceptance of others.
7. Providing cover in other areas as required.
8. Supporting education staff with the children and young people's daily educational needs and providing a 24-hour learning environment, with vocational activities and helping with the development of their numeracy and literacy skills.
9. Carrying out any other appropriate duties requested by the Registered Manager.

11. Undertaking other duties commensurate with the level of responsibility that may be allocated from time to time.
To be considered for this role:
1. Have previous experience of working in a children's residential home.
2. Have experience of working with children with challenging behaviours and EBD.
3. Understand EBD and how to support children and young people who experience it.
4. Good knowledge and understanding of the importance of safeguarding vulnerable young people.
5. Be an effective communicator.
6. Be passionate and dedicated to improving the lives of young people.
