Description
Infrastructure Engineer, Windows, Active Directory, Hybrid working, 3 days a week in the office, Liverpool.
We are looking for an experienced IT Infrastructure Engineer to join our growing team. With at least 3-4 years experience of 3rd line infrastructure support, you will be responsible for the following:
Main Responsibilities
1. Manage and maintain Active Directory, including design, configuration, user and group management, and security policies.
2. Implement and manage Windows Server infrastructure, including installation, configuration, performance optimization, and troubleshooting.
3. Design and implement disaster recovery solutions for critical servers and services.
4. Conduct regular backups and ensure data integrity and availability.
5. Monitor server performance and proactively identify and resolve potential issues.
6. Perform system upgrades and migrations according to established procedures.
7. Collaborate with the IT team to implement new server technologies and applications.
8. Document server configurations and procedures for future reference.
9. Adhere to IT security policies and best practices.
Technical Skills needed for the Infrastructure Support role include:
1. Strong understanding of Windows Server operating systems (2012 R2, 2016, 2019).
2. Active Directory administration, including group policy management, user and group creation, and security configuration.
3. Experience with DNS and file services configuration.
4. Working knowledge of virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V).
5. Familiarity with backup and recovery solutions (Veeam).
6. Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
7. Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
Core Knowledge Requirements needed for the Infrastructure support role:
1. 5+ years of experience in a large 24/7 enterprise and ITIL environment.
2. Experience with Windows Server (2012, 2016 or 2019).
3. Ability to create/manage Domain Services and configuration including disaster recovery scenarios, managing security groups, delegation, OU structure, object types, and attributes.
4. Experience with Active Directory, VMWare and Veeam technologies.
5. Knowledge of the 3 large hyperscalers.
6. Human competencies: teamwork and multicultural awareness.
7. Leadership skills: initiative, effective communication, ability to manage workload and meet deadlines.
Qualifications
1. Degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
2. Microsoft certification (MCSA/MCSE Windows Server), Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate, and/or Microsoft Certified Expert.
