The Shire of Capel is offering a fantastic opportunity for a motivated individual to join our team as a Work Health and Safety Trainee. Gain practical experience while completing a Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (over 24 months), all within a supportive and dynamic local government setting.

Job Description
As a Work Health and Safety Trainee, you will play a key role in fostering a culture of safety and wellbeing within the Shire of Capel. You'll work closely with our Work Health and Safety Advisor and various teams across the organisation to ensure safe work practices and compliance with legislation.
This fixed-term role is perfect for someone who is eager to learn, proactive and passionate about making workplaces safer. Over 24 months, you’ll gain invaluable experience in risk assessment, incident prevention and safety compliance while actively contributing to audits, inspections and safety initiatives. Additionally, you will assist in maintaining consultation and communication processes around all things safety and help shape the Shire’s Wellbeing Program.
Throughout the traineeship, you will complete the nationally recognised qualification of Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety and develop the know-how in workplace safety procedures, emergency management and risk mitigation strategies - all while making a tangible difference in the Shire.

To be considered for this role you will be able to demonstrate:

* Completion of secondary school or equivalent
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook (or equivalent software)
* Demonstrated written, verbal communication and numeracy skills
* Current C or C-A Class Drivers Licence
Previous experience with Work Health and Safety systems is not essential but will be highly regarded.
