Accounts Assistant / Legal Cashier - Cardiff Competitive Salary (Negotiable depending on experience) TSR Legal are proud to be working with a growing law firm who are currently expanding in Cardiff and the South West. They are currently seeking a Part Time Accounts Assistant / Legal Cashier to join their central team, supporting the Accounts Manager. Job Purpose As the Accounts Assistant / Legal Cashier reporting to the Accounts Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring a seamless and friction-free accounts service to the legal team. This highly visible position involves regular interaction with Directors and Heads of Department, with a primary focus on overseeing financial operations. Working closely with the Accounts Manager, you will be supported by an existing accounts team. Your responsibilities will include managing day-to-day accounts functions such as maintaining cash flow, checking supplier invoices, monitoring expense claims, approving invoices, overseeing residual balances, addressing queries, and providing management reports as needed. Responsibilities and Duties Day-to-day processing and auto reconciliation of Client and Office accounts in compliance with SAR and VAT regulations. Ensure accurate and efficient handling of daily tasks, including Client Receipts and Payments, Office Receipts and Payments, Billing, Supplier and Nominal Ledgers, checking Completion Packs, and end-of-day balancing and reporting. Adhere to established processes and workflows. Run required Accounts reports. Administer the online banking system. Promptly address and report any work issues or problems to the Accounts Manager. Answer all telephone calls promptly and handle staff queries. Assist the firm in adhering to Solicitors Accounts Rules. Ensure compliance with the firm's policies and procedures. Essential Criteria 1 years' previous experience in a similar role. AAT or similar qualifications preferred. Experience in daily accounting tasks, including purchase ledger, client account reconciliations, transfers, disbursements/recharges/expenses, and VAT. Experience in WIP, billing, and credit control. Familiarity with cash flows, trial balances, management accounts, and report analysis (ideal but not essential). Previous UK legal finance experience with knowledge of legal terminology. Sound knowledge of the SRA Accounts Rules for compliance. Ability to work in a high-pressure environment and meet deadlines, especially at month/year end.
