Our client is excited to be recruiting for a CAD Engineer to be based within our engineering team at the Low Voltage switchgear facility in Boldon Colliery. Their facility designs and manufactures HV/LV packaged substations, low voltage electrical switchboards, power distribution units, motor control panels, and final power distribution and control equipment that are type tested and verified to BSEN.
Role/Responsibility:
You will be responsible for producing 2D electrical schematics and interconnection drawings for LV Distribution and Control. You will interpret customer requirements and technical specifications, and your responsibilities will include:
1. Solidworks / AutoCad operator focusing on electrical requirements of the Engineering Dept.
2. Knowledge / experience of electrical control panel design for industrial equipment.
3. Read, understand, and produce LV Electrical front of panel layout drawings, LV electrical control schematics, and interconnection diagrams derived from customer and internal specifications.
4. Liaise with workshop staff to create SOPs and streamline electrical equipment design and build within the company.
5. Good database and computer skills. MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, etc).
6. Ability to work unsupervised and create detailed electrical drawings as detailed above, as well as manufacturing packages of drawings, parts lists, and BOMs.
Skills/Qualifications:
1. Ability to discuss drawings and technical details.
2. Experience of using AutoCad is essential.
3. Experience of using Solidworks is desirable.
4. Electrical / control knowledge is essential.
5. Knowledge of production engineering practice.
6. ONC or Equivalent qualification required.
